Hello, I’m Maryyum :) I am an established socio-political analyst, cultural commentator and community cohesion expert. My aims have always been twofold. Firstly, to understand the motivations driving human behaviours in the face of social and political issues. Secondly, to utilise my insights from academic research, political advocacy and commercial expertise, creating innovate and impactful solutions to address contemporary global and societal challenges.

Quite often I get asked, “what do you do?” Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever given the same response twice! Partly because I believe that my journey in life so far deserves much more time and space. That’s why I decided to launch The SHIFT.

This platform is dedicated to spotlighting my pursuits: past, present and future. As the world continues to turn, and trends rapidly shift, it’s imperative to stay atop of, and navigate, all changes. The SHIFT is my unique way of making sense of these movements.

Alongside this, you get to know me a little better. Let’s put it this way: The SHIFT is more personal than LinkedIn, yet more formal than a Facebook page. It’s a sharp and succinct set-up to showcase all of my passions, skills, knowledge exchange activities and their consequent social impact.

I embody the saying, “be the change you wish to see in the world”. The world is forever in flux. It’s up to us to move with it! Come join this third-culture kid on a journey of learning, creating and flourishing.

Voicing opinions and analysis

I firmly attest to the power of knowledge exchange. After all, what use is my expertise if I can’t relay it to wider audiences? For this reason, I maintain a steady media profile in both print and broadcast. Got enquiries?
