Social

Social media. Social movement. Social justice.

In an increasingly interconnected and intertwined world, what matters most is how we navigate the social sphere. The efficacy of our communication relies upon a sustainable reclamation of our social spaces.

Bringing the global to the local and forming the ‘glocal’ is how I assert my position within the social realm. In so doing, I try my best to maintain an active social presence both on and offline. Whether it’s social media, movements or justice, here are just some of the ways that I am reclaiming my position and affirming my responsibilities within social spaces.

Youth Mentoring & Coaching

As a British Muslim woman of South Asian extraction I believe in honouring my multiple hyphenated identities by giving back to my communities. I engage with young people from BAME backgrounds, nurturing their talent, and aiding them in overcoming obstacles to attainment and barriers to access.

My aim is to enable and empower youth voices. Besides, lecturing and tutoring in academic settings, I often serve as a mentor and role model for future faith leaders, developing their skills and techniques in navigating deliberative democratic processes.

For the last five years, I have served as a mentor for The Faith and Belief Forum’s Undergraduate Parliamentors. Currently, I deliver advice and workshops on tackling racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia and Antisemitism in educational institutions. Some of my work on supporting Freedom of Speech in HE can be found on SOAS COP.
